Jeff Smith and Cody Riggs finish the year 23-4 at doubles, going 3-1 at the State
Tournament finishing 3rd place overall. Smith and Riggs' only loss was to the State
Champions from Independence. In the 3rd/4th place match, Smith and Riggs avenged a
loss at Regionals against Smoky Valley, by beating them at the State Tournament. By
finishing 3rd overall, the pair scored enough team points to place 6th overall as a team
out of 20 teams at the 4A State Tournament. Great Job Jeff & Cody!!!

WELLINGTON IS STATE-BOUND!
Tied after 5 innings with 3 runs a piece, the "Wellington"
Crusaders busted loose for "4" runs in the 6th and

packin' up for the season. Matt Ricke, in relief of starter
Tyler Ybarra, was the winning pitcher behind some excellent
hitting across the board. Calder Cody went 3 for 4 w/ a triple,
Kevin Crow 2 for 4 w/ a double. Also getting "2" hits were
Nate Keller, Tanner Ybarra, Kerby Hefley, and Acy Ybarra for a
game total of "13". Dylan Bowman & Tanner Ybarra combined
in the 7th in relief to secure the victory. The Crusaders head
north to Salina on Friday, May 26th for
4A State Tournament Action!
SPECIAL NOTE: SENIOR KERBY HEFLEY now holds the
WHS Baseball record for most singles in a season.

Clearwater pitchers for 9 hits - 2 hits a piece for Devin
Dawson and Acy Ybarra, 1 hit each for Trenton Rains,
Calder Cody, Matt Stalcup, Nate Keller and Kerby Hefley.
