Keller beat Manley of Coffeyville 9-4 and went 5-1 overall! Fike & Tompkins beat Independence 1-6, 6-4,

FRIDAY UPDATE
In "singles" play, WHS Sophomore Evan Keller went 3-1 on Friday. By winning his first two matches,
Evan is guaranteed a "STATE MEDAL". Evan can finish as high as 5th place today and no worse
than 8th - GREAT JOB EVAN - GOOD LUCK! Also in "singles" play, WHS Senior Josh Sapp
battled hard and could have prevailed but lost in a tough tiebreaker and went 0-2 on Friday. Josh played
well at Regionals and at State - great job Josh - great season and great career at WHS! In "doubles"
play, WHS Seniors Gary Fike and Jordan Tompkins LIT IT UP IN PRATT ON FRIDAY!!! After a tough 6th place finish at
Regionals earlier this week, Fike and Tompkins calmly and cooly went 3-0; defeating Ulysses
(3rd place Regional finisher) 6-3, 6-1, Chanute (2nd place Regional finisher) 6-1, 6-1, and Abilene (1st place Regional

Team finished 4th with a 309 team score.

The team played pretty well.  Lost to the defending 5A and 3A State Champs by 3 and 1 stroke respectively.  Very proud of kids.  They have worked extremely hard up to this point to improve their games and it is beginning to pay off.  I am very excited to see how we do in League and Regionals.  This is a great group of young men, both on and off the course.  Myles played extremely well to win his fifth tournament of the year.  I am not sure, but I believe 67 (5 under par) is a school record.  I am checking on that.  If it is not a record, it is darn close.  Myles is playing his best golf as we come to the end of our season.  Yesterday was his first bogey free round this season.  This was also the first time this year that all 6 golfers were under 90.  This tells me we are getting better and developing some depth in our rotation, which is really important as we enter League and Regional play.
