UPDATE from STATE 4A Cross Country!

Chase Pfalzgraf and Mackenzie Heacock, qualified last weekend in Chanute for today's (Saturday) State 4A Cross Country Meet in Wamego! A big sendoff took place on Wednesday for Chase and Mackenzie (2 days early due to PT Conferences/No School) out at WHS. Unfortunate news was received today prior to the conclusion of the State Meet that Jr. Mackenzie Heacock had rolled her ankle Friday evening and would not be able to compete on Saturday. Not the outcome you want at a State event for sure.

State 4A Sendoff (Again) Today @ WHS!!

For the 2nd time in about as many weeks, a STATE 4A sendoff took place at WHS, this time for Cross Country runners Senior Chase Pfalzgraf and Junior Mackenzie Heacock. Chase and Mackenzie both qualified for the State 4A Meet at Wamego this Saturday. Action gets underway at 11AM at the Wamego Country Club. Many students, staff, the awesome Crusader Band, and others were on hand in support!

Good Start for WMS Scholar's Bowl!

Front Row: Abbey Gill, Michael Davis, Alec Gonzalez, Kate Haines, Heidi Gulick, Hunter Lough

Congratulations to the WMS 8th grade squad - they finished in 2nd place (3-1), just behind Mulvane, also (3-1). Place was determined by head to head tie-breaker

Season Ends For Lady Crusader Volleyball

The 2018 WHS Volleyball Season came to a close on Saturday @ Rose Hill HS. 4A Sub-State action vs Nickerson didn't produce the "W" needed to advance - the Lady Crusader underclassmen will say good-bye to the courts until the 2019 season rolls around - 7 Seniors will say good-bye forever. It's always difficult when season's end, especially for the graduating Seniors. Saw several recent graduates at Sub-State 4A action in Rose Hill - the ladies have a love for the game and as their predecessors, they will be missed.

Loss Hurts - Changes Nothing Though - GO BIG RED!

The 4A Brackets are out for playoff action (see link below) which will begin Friday. Turns out, the loss to Mulvane did nothing to alter the outcome for who we would play this coming Friday. The Crusaders went in as #2 seed, likely to face #15 seed Rose Hill week #9, and emerged as the #2 seed and will play Rose Hill this coming Friday HERE, despite the loss to the Wildcats who end up the #4 seed. This will perhaps catch the attention of a couple of Mulvane players who while exiting the field were letting the crowd know they were the #2 seed now.** Oops.

KWHS NEWS LOGO WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

And the winners are....

The KWHS NEWS TEAM at WHS recently held a contest for an official KWHS NEWS logo to kick off their new NEWSCAST (coming next week!) The competition was tight with several very cool logos submitted by 4 different WHS students! The choices were tough and after verifying that other news organizations use more than one logo, the KWHS NEWS TEAM selected logos created by "2" different students, Senior McQuay Bongato and Freshman Stellar Young. Other contributors included Rhett Nance and Cody Metz.

Payton had an 89 on the day, 18 over par. Wichita Trinity's Hanna Hawks finished 1st @ 68, 3 under. Awesome job ladies!!
