2022 WHS.CC College Laptop (Asst Prog Info)

2022 Graduate Laptop Assistance is being fulfilled by Zach Parent and John Sturgis in partnership with the Wellington Community Foundation and WHS staff.  Through the normal yearly contributions and memorial donations, Steve's Laptop Fund has enough money in the account to accommodate every applicant who turned in their paperwork by the February 24 deadline.  Those students have been contacted via their email (email from Katie Ford) and have until September 6, 2022, to submit a Fall 2022 course schedule to fulfill the requirement to receive a laptop assistance check for $200.

WHS Girls Basketball vs Winfield

The Lady Crusaders, not only ranked 3rd overall in 4A basketball state-wide by the Kansas Basketball Coach Association, they are also undefeated 7-0! They are composed and take challenges head on, they are fun to watch. The Lady Vikings came to town 3-1, and left with an “L”, actually not surprising to the home fans, but everyone knows anything can happen, last night, it was the expected, not the surprise in the end. The Lady Vikings road back to Winfield, 3-2, but certainly a team with potential.

WHS Boys Basketball vs Winfield

The Crusader squad has been on a roll the last two games, beating league opponent (Rose Hill) last Friday, there, by 1 point, I guess the 1 pt victories are as good of win as any, last night, in OT, the 0-4, now 0-5 Varsity Winfield Vikings, lost by 1, giving Wellington a 3-4 record going in to break. Kudos to Head Coach Joe Newman last Friday, kudos to Asst, move up to Head Coach, Chad Whaley last night. Head Coach Newman was ill and could not attend. Chad stepped up to help and snagged the 2nd victory in a row!

Lady Crusaders WIN IT ALL @ Cheney Early Season Tournament!

The Varsity Lady Crusaders SHINED this week at the CHENEY EARLY SEASON BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. Still undefeated on the season, the usual champion, CHENEY themselves, were relegated to the 3rd place game after Wellington downed them, 45-39 earlier in the week. In the championship game on Saturday, it was the Varsity Lady Crusaders and Pratt HS, a team the ladies dominated the entire contest on Saturday. Up 40-17 at half and eventual final score of 66-47, the ladies in red clinched the title away from Cheney (and Pratt of course) - smiles all the way around.

Crusader Boys Win 5th Place @ Cheney Basketball Tournament

The Varsity Crusaders were in action early Saturday afternoon, going up against TRINIITY CATHOLIC in the 5th place match-up at this season's "EARLY SEASON CHENEY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT" @ Cheney HS. The outcome for the Varsity and Jr. Varsity boys was positive! The Varsity secured 5th with a 58-31 victory. Congrats to Coach Newman and the squad, their first win of this young season and JV Boys, also with a win over TRINITY CATHOLIC 45-32. Congrats to Montel Tate as well, for his selection to the ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM!
