The #8 seed Lady Crusaders finished up the Wildcat Classic at Haven HS on Saturday. After a huge upset win on Thursday vs the host and #1 seed Lady Wildcats (49-46), the girls in red lost that "mo", falling to #5 seed Cheney on Friday (53-29) and then coming up short vs #3 seed Kingman on Saturday, (57-40). Still a 4th place finish in a field of 8 so nothing to hang your head about there. Cheney's full court press, (same press that gave the Lady Crusaders difficulties back on Dec. 7th at WHS), was again too much for the girls in red.
The Crusaders got the 2018 part of their schedule off to a perfect start Tuesday out at WHS. The "C" Team Boys won their first game of the season is good fashion - congratulations to them! The "W's" continued throughout the evening, in both gymnasiums before relatively small crowds, perhaps due to the extreme cold conditions outside and the school still being on Holiday Break until Thursday.
The Lady Crusaders got the 2018 part of their schedule off to a splendid start Tuesday at WHS. The girls in red hosted the girls in green (Mulvane) and came out on top in both contests before a relatively small crowd. The temps outside quite cold and school itself is still on Holiday Break so no doubt lead to a smaller than usual fan base. The Varsity win moves their overall season record to .500, the JV Girls remain undefeated in league action! Awesome!
CONGRATULATIONS TO Shayland French, Avery Rusk, AJ Snipes and Ian King!! All 4 made their respective ALL TOURNAMENT TEAMS @ the Cheney Invitational that concluded on Saturday. GREAT JOB!!
The Varsity Lady Crusaders after a slow first set with Circle, turned on the after burners and won the next "4" sets on the evening (2 vs Circle, then 2 vs Clearwater) to sweep and move their season record to 10-8! Congratulations!! The JV battled hard and after losing 26-28 in their first set vs Circle, came back to win the final 2 sets for the match win. In their match up with Clearwater, the JV girls were on fire that first set but the Lady Indians turned the table and finished out with the match win.
