Saturday was a phenomenal day for the WHS Cross Country program. Not only did Freshman Lady Crusader Taylor Earl place 27th out of a field of 48 runners, in the GIRLS 5K, seven Crusaders, as a team, finished 3rd out of a field of 8 teams and will be heading north to Wamego, as a team, this coming Saturday. Congratulations to Head Coach Jaedyn Ledesma Showman, and coaches Charles Wallace and Timothy Green. They shined, the team shined, and smiles were plentiful as the final standings were announced.

When Clearwater was announced as the 4th place finisher, our boys and coaches knew - the Crusaders were headin' to State. Clearwater, who has an excellent Cross Country team was the team they knew they had to beat to make the cut and they did it. Here are the final "TEAM" standings and individual times for our Lady Crusader and Crusaders in their respective 5K races, held north of Hutchinson at the Westar Prairie Ridge XC Course on North Lucille Rd.

A special shout-out to SENIORS Camden Parkey and Braeden Ybarra - these two gentlemen have been a part of the program for a long time and are looked up to immensely by their underclassmen 'mates. Both have recently overcome personal challenges and have emerged strong and determined. This Saturday at Wamego will be their last hurrah, I heard a couple of their teammates mention how sad they will be to not have both around after this weekend. Camden Parkey and Braeden Ybarra - true Crusaders, true Leaders! Thank you both for your consistent contributions to the team over the last many years!
