4A Sub-State play was on stage Thursday evening at WHS! The 13-6 WHS Lady Crusaders hosted 10-8 Wamego - the winner would advance to the SUB-STATE Championship Game Saturday evening at Ulysses HS, the Lady Tigers downed the Buhler Lady Crusaders Thursday 43-31 at Ulysses to earn their home slot in Saturday's Championship Game. Wamego will be their opponent, after a CLOSE victory over our ladies, final score Wamego 42 Wellington 40.
The WHS Varsity Boys only hope to extend the season to regular sub-state play, came up short Monday evening at Mulvane in the "play-in" game for the 17th and 18th seeds of the WEST 4A, eighteen team division. Final score, WHS 59 MHS 73 The (6-14) Wildcats, with the win, will road-trip to (18-1) Wichita Trinity Wednesday for Sub-State West Div 4A opening action.
(TODAY) Thursday, February 28, the National Honor Society Crusader Chapter at Wellington High School will be hosting a blood drive through American Red Cross. This event will take place from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. The blood collected will go towards those in need in the Sumner County area.
Saturday wrapped up the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Wichita. Melissa Buchanan, Elizabeth Vaughn, and Rane Case shared the results of the 16-student membership at WHS:

WHS Junior Kanden Young lost to Stribling of Paola (Fall 3:21) and is out. Kanden went 1-2 @ State, his 2nd State Tournament is past 3 years. Congrats on a great season Kanden. (Next year - the BIG YEAR - it's goin' to happen!)
Congratulations to our WMS 8th Grade Lady Knights - a group of young ladies that have lost only "2" games over the past "2" years...awesome, even more awesome - after splitting with Clearwater during regular season, the Lady Knights got down to business tonight at Rose Hill HS and in the 2019 PATRIOT LEAGUE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, the Lady Knights WON 36-21 and are now the League Tournament Champs!! Congratulations to Coaches Kelsey Whaley and J' Lynn Ledesma and the Lady Knights!! Wellington is proud of you!!
The Knight and Crusader Concert Bands performed at WHS, before a nice-sized crowd Wednesday evening. The 6th grade and 7th/8th grade bands performed, the WHS Crusader Concert Band were the finale!
Nice performances by all, under the direction of Mr. David Brody. A fine concert.
Numbers included, Ode To Joy, Needle In A Haystack, America the Beautiful, Cameroon, Prairie Songs, Chorale Prelude, Appalachian Air, and Bonds of Unity.
